Nhn

before

they

are

amar may

make others

fuf e, for

righteortfnefr.

but

would have all kind

of

things.

to be fuífered

;

But

now

the

Lord

judge

in

this

cafe,

in this

wrong

unto

fuch

men,

tháthe-

caufe

they

onely

plead for

no

further

furfering

a

Toleration

but

in

this

cafe

where men

can

no way,

either

by the

horrible

-

ne1e

in

the fast,

in

their

opinions,

or

by

the

turbulency

and

pride,

and infolency

of their

carriage be

convinc't to erre

through

wantonneflè and

flubbornnetfe;

there

they

fay

that

there thould be

a

forbearance

;

tut

now

to think that

all kind

of

things

fhould

be

tolerated,

all kind

ofblafphemy tolerated

;

this

is

a

moil infinite

wrong, and whofoever bath been guilty

of

this,

to

charge

it

upon

them,

Purely

there

is

much

guilt up.

'on fuch

for

this,

and

if

God

gives them

not hearts

to

repent of

k,

it

will

be

requir'd of

them another

day.

--

But

now

this

is

all

that

is

pleaded for, That

all

thole men that agree

with

us

both in

dottrine

and

worfhip that

is

fundamentall,and

all

thefe

that carry themfelves in a peaceable

humble and

meek

way,

that thefe

thould

have

forbearance from

their Brethren;

now

what peace will this hinder among

us

?

why may not,

we live

and injoy

one

another,

and

never

have

fuch

termes one

againfl

another,either

that

one would have

all

things

futfered, or

that

others are perfecutors

becaufe

they

will

not

fuffer

all

things

?

--

Thus

you

fee

that

a

man may fuffer in

matters

of

Religion,

.and

may

fuffer

jufily

and righteoufly.

But

now

this 'is

to

be

limited

according to

the Cautions that

I

fpake

toobefore.

Now

on

the other

fide,To

convince

men that they

may

before

they

are

awar

bring men

in

to

fuffer for

Righteoufneffe

fake ;

You

will

fay

,

Who

will make

any

man fuffer for

Righte-

oufnefs fake

?

Surely

there's

fcarce

any fo

vild.

To

that

I

anfwer,

The Devill

himfèlfe

would

never

Caufe

any

of

the people

of

God,

to

fuffer

under the name

of

fuller-

ing

for Righteoufneffe

;

If

the Devil!

did

raife

any

perfecuti-

ons againfl

the

Saints,

he

would have force

pretence or other

for

their

fufferings

;

you

never read

of

that, that the

Devil!

did

cry

out

of men meerely

for

their

Righteoufneffe, but it's

un-

der

fome

other

name

that

alwayes

he

bath

to

bring

fufrerings

upon

the

profeffors

of

Religion

:

When the

Devil!

would

bring

the

people

of the

yewves

to

fuffer,

Haman

comes

and
