R.ó.
If
men will not looke
at this
to take benefit, yet
we muff
Thine;
the
Sun flrineth
though blinde ones cannot fee;nay,though
weake lighted
ones be dazled with
it
:
So though men
(bold
mocke
us
wee
muff
Thine:
The Moonedoth
never blufh nor
valle her
light when
a
dog
barketh at
her;
no

we though impure dogs
fhould
open,
we
mull:
not
be
Awned

forth the
glorious light
of
grace and
of the word of
God.
Now
for the argument,
becaure you
are
light,
therefore
be
not com-
panions
of
them.
Which

teach us, That
our condition
to
which
wee
are
begotten,
doth binde
we
from
familiar
converfing with the wicked,
as
from
their
wickednefe
:
new eftate
doth
require new
affociares as
well
as
new
manners.
What
agreement
is
there
betwixt thofe that
are
light
and
thofe that
are darknelfee
And the Prophet

faith,
How can two
walke
together

agreed
?
For
this
we
know
that the
fimili-
rude
of
manners
is
the
greateft bond
of
friendfhip,there cannot be any
true friendfhipwhere there
arc qualities
altogether
diflike.
We
may fee on
the contrary,this (that the
wicked are
in
their
dark
-
neffe) Both
make
them that they cannot
like
to company
with
the
godly,
for this

in the other.
It
is
plaine therefore
that
filch
as
can be all one with wicked
men,
forget
their citate ;
When
noble
perfons will converfe
with
vile
ones,
doe they not
argue
that they
are
of

mind;
degenerate from their
nobility
e
And
feeing
becaufe wee are light
,
wee
mull not convene with
thofe that
are darkneffe, it
doth
warne
us
what
kinde
of
company we
mull joy ìn, even
in
the Saints;

delight
as
in
them

Now
followeth the duty
deduced from
it;

hee
doth
open the
manner
how they might
thus walke.
a.
By fearching
out and
pra&ifng that
which
is
pleating
to
God.
a.
By
decliningevill,which hath
two
degrees
:
r..
That
they
fhould
not
communicate
in
the
fruideffe
works
of
dàrkneffe.
a That
they
fhould reprove
them.
Not
communicate
in
them, why
e
becaufe
they were
things
that
couldnot be hoaeftly named. Rebuke
theta,
why
e
becaufe
they
fhould
thus bring the wicked to
a
fight
of
their
fin
; for

is
proved from the

Now

for the duty,
it
comprehendeth two things.
r: That
they mull
walke.

as
the
children
of
light.
